Toward Applications for DNA Nanotechnology-More Bricks To Build With.
نویسنده
چکیده
Another brick in the wall: DNA nanotechnology has come a long way since its initial beginnings. This would not be possible without the continued development of methods for DNA assembly and new uses for DNA as a material. This Special Issue highlights some of the newest building blocks for nanodevices based on DNA.

3DNA: A Tool for DNA Sculpting
DNA self−assembly is a robust and programmable approach for building structures at nanoscale. Researchers around the world have proposed and implemented different techniques to build two dimensional and three dimensional nano structures. One such technique involves the implementation of DNA Bricks [1], proposed by Ke et al., 2012 to create complex three−dimensional (3D) structures. Modeling the...
متن کاملChallenges and opportunities for structural DNA nanotechnology.
DNA molecules have been used to build a variety of nanoscale structures and devices over the past 30 years, and potential applications have begun to emerge. But the development of more advanced structures and applications will require a number of issues to be addressed, the most significant of which are the high cost of DNA and the high error rate of self-assembly. Here we examine the technical...
متن کاملDiamondoids and DNA Nanotechnologies
Diamondoids are cage-like saturated hydrocarbons consisting of fused cyclohexane rings. The Diamondoids family of compounds is one of the best candidates for molecular building blocks (MBBs) in nanotechnology to construct organic nanostructures compared to other MBBs known so far. The challenge is to find a route for self-assembly of these cage hydrocarbons and their applications in the bottom-...
متن کاملBENEFICIATION STUDIES ON BAUXITE MINING WASTE: A VALUE ADDITION FOR REFRACTORYINDUSTRIES
Partially Lateritised Khondalite (PLK) rocks are the waste materials generated as a result of mining of bauxite. The major discolouring elemental impurity in the PLK is iron oxides, which render it unsuitable for its use as a refractory material. The iron can be removed by suitable beneficiation methods. The main aim of this present investigation is to prepare a value added material from the mi...
